Success, Cars, and Art
Photography is a great creative outlet.
It’s the end of the week so I thought I’d just share something different.
I started digital photography with my first Kodak DC280 digital camera. Photography has been my hobby ever since.
In the past I have been tempted to turn car photography into a side business. But honestly, I’m way more happy to keep it as a creative outlet.
Composing a photo is a wonderful skill to develop (pun intended). You’re not just taking a photo of an object. You are examining the entire scene, even the shadows, and positioning them in a way that is more interesting.
A simple tip when photographing cars is to shoot below (or above) eye level. People are used to seeing cars at eye level, so show the car from a different perspective. Low also adds to the aggressive feel. Sometimes I even hold the camera a few inches above the ground. The flip-out display screen works wonders in this scenario, although sometimes I do lay on the ground.
The above shot is one of my favorites. The fire escape and a waiting car. What could be happening here? Feel free to create your own story.
I use a Sony a6000 with the 16–50 kit lens. The combo makes for a very light and pocketable camera.
